Traditionally, actuaries were based largely in the insurance field and had a limited role. However, the actuarial role has grown over the years to become more diverse. Many fields require the expertise of an actuary. As such, it is time to redefine “actuary” and what it encompasses. We will incorporate various aspects of the actuarial role (different fields such as data analysis, risk management, etc) to share with the participants about the possible non-traditional actuarial pathways and why actuaries are essential in different fields.

CASE STUDIES
To stimulate minds and push the boundaries of creative thinking, we have collaborated with two very well known organizations in the actuarial industry -- Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) and Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), who have specially put together three mind-boggling case studies, which are:

#1 RGA Challenge : Insurtech and Going Beyond Healthcare
#2 RGA Challenge : Creating Life or/and Health Product for Millennials
#3 Challenge : Safety Features in Auto-Insurance

How does it work?
You can either register as a team of 4 - 6 persons OR individually (and then be placed into team with other participants randomly). A week prior to the conference, the details of the case study will be released to you. You will be required to work as a team to unravel the case and come up with the required solutions. Before the conference, your team will need to submit the solution online where it will be reviewed. Four of the best performing teams for each category will be chosen to present their case studies on the conference day to an invited panel of judges where the top two teams for each case will be rewarded with an attractive pool of cash prize - RM1,500 and RM1,000 !
